Student Safety
We have received many recent calls and inquiries regarding the systems that we have in place regarding student safety. Please know that safety is our top priority and one of the most important factors to ensure a positive school climate where students and staff feel secure and accepted. We have a number of systems currently in place and review these systems on an ongoing basis. In addition to having students travel in pairs, limited access to our building, 6 fire drills per year and 2 hold and secure/lockdown drills, we also have an evacuation plan and a plan for dealing with an environmental concern (shelter-in-place). Our caring and safe schools team made up of staff, parents and students meet regularly to review and implement any changes and additions to our current procedures. Thank you to all parents and visitors who continue to report to the office upon entry to our school. We have advised students and staff to notify the office should they see an adult or student who is not part of our Glen Park family. In addition, we are pleased to announce that Glen Park has been approved as a site that will be receiving a camera/ buzzer system sometime this school year. This additional security measure has been in the works for the past 4 months and was just recently approved by our Board. We will keep Parent Council updated as well as those who receive weekly emails as we hear more details regarding installation and process around this camera system. Thank you for your attention to our procedures to ensure the on-going safety of all of our students.
